Endpoint Protection

Hi there,

I'm really angry with that product and the way Symantec manage to update and to enhance the whole solution.

Till we bought it:
- It  still have the sloweset UI I ever seen!
- We still got LU "return code = 4" for unknow reasons (thank's for reinstallation, I like that pretty much)
- It doesn't manage to work with latest java versions.
- It stink in virus detection alerts and reporting.
- The mail reports are so weird and useless and can't be customized enough to be precise.
- There are no search dialog boxes to get a fast look to a precise ressource.

We are on our 5th update and that begin to make me sick.
Well, when will Symantec provide something usuable to administrate, maintain and update?

Can you give us some details on your environment?

1. Symantec product, and version that you are using
2. What features are installed?
2. How many clients are you managing?
3. Embedded or SQL database?
4. Does your server meet the minimum system requirements?
5. Are you logging in remotely to the console?

Any other details that you can think of will help us to better understand your issues.

Hi Thomas,

1. We use SEPM v. 11.0.4202.75 running on W2k3 sp2 x32
2. AV, Truescan and network Threat detection
3. We have got 30 ressources on it now, up to 200 when migration will be finished
4. Embedded database
5. Bi-xeon dual core @ 2,4Ghz, 2.5Go RAM, enough free disk space
6. Both, when I'm connecting remotly I suffer from my java version.

We use ldap auth, cause we are under novell directory services. The AV server is also the update server and the database server.
