Thread title bug
When people are starting new threads with the same title as an existing thread in the same forum, it's not getting a unique hyperlink.
Two examples from the NetBackup forum:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/nom...
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/med...
Each has a thread opened in the past 24 hours, but clicking on the links takes you to threads from 2005!
We WERE getting numbers appended to hyperlinks in similar titles but there's no "-0" versions of these. Did that break? Is case sensitivity involved? Dunno.
Maybe unique identifiers for each thread should have been used instead of titles. [ Something as arcane as an incremental counter seems to work on other message boards. ;-) ]
ANYWAY. When can this be fixed?
Thanks!

Thanks for the examples
We're looking into this now.
All titles are forced to lower case in the URL so case doesn't matter.
Identical titles should be appended with -0, -1, -2 but it's not happening.
Will keep you posted.

Solved
We've (partially) solved the thread title bug.
It had to do with our move to a multi-lingual site.
New posts will now have unique URLs regardless of what language they are published in (or which language is chosen when the post is published).
We're still working on a script that will fix the legacy articles that were impacted by this issue.
Hopefully we'll have those posts fixed in the next day or two.

Yes ..It looks to be fixed.

I think it's fixed too
Thanks!
Hate to be a party pooper, but
there's still the Media Multiplexing post in Chris's O/P. It still points to a post opened over 4 years ago, even when trying to view the one opened 5 days ago by Ashleigh Stevens. Is this just a one off?

We fixed the issue that was
We fixed the issue that was allowing new duplicate titles to be created, now we need to run a script to undo the damage that was already done. The script has been written and we are testing it on our development server. We should have the existing duplicate threads fixed shortly.
Fix
We've just run the "fix duplicate titles script" on the production server.
Please let me know if you see any lingering issues.
Thanks,
Kevin
