    Hi,

Will the optional MR4 GUP registry settings such as MasterClientReadThrottleBufferSize work on clients connecting back directly to a SEPM server?

    Cheers,

    Jason

I am aware of this article for GUP.

In legacy SAV on the parent server you could configure various registry settings to only allow one SAV client per subnet to download and also a setting BandwithPacketThrottle, this all worked like GUP for SEP.

But until GUP is more dynamic (i beleive future version) it would be a management nightmare to setup GUP for hundreds of WAN sites with 5 computers or less. All i need is for one computer to be replaced without my knowledge and that site would become an issue. Even if i was informed of the pc replacement i would have to update SEPM policies which could happen too frequently.

I inteded to use LUA for these sites.

As an alternative I was wondering if these GUP throttling settings would also work with SEP clients that connect direct to the SEPM server since they too use LiveUpdate to connect to the SEPM server. If these registry settings also work for SEP clients connecting direcly to SEPM i could roll out the settings to WAN clients via SCCM. This would allow me to reduce Bandwidth on the WAN without having to setup and manage GUP.

I suppose this question is more for the Symantec Engineers/DEV's.
