TLS on Windows XP and 2003 Server

    Hi

During an upgrade of SEPM to 12.1.6, I got a warning that Windows XP and 2003 clients will be unable to communicate after upgrade unless we activate TLS on the endpoints.

Is this also necessary if SSL was not enabled?

    Found the answer:)
As long as SSL was not activated earlier. We are good to go!

Activating SSL is a manual procedure that requires to change the httpd.conf and changing the  Management Server List, to use the  HTTPS Protocol.
If this has not been done. You are good to go?

    Hi Torb

I'm seeing the same, where did you find the answer to this?

Don't really see it in the documentation, anyone who know if this is documented anyware in Symantec's upgrade documentation for SEP 12.1 RU6 ?

    Regards

@jrudbecka. I Spoke with the product manager of SEP.  He confirmed my observation.

But, yes. I agree, it could have been more documentet.

    Hi Torb,

As commented, you do not need to do any additional setting if in your Management Server List you use HTTP protocol.

You will need to follow article if you use HTTPS. This is not enabled by default.

Attatched an screenshot of how to find the settings in SEPM. Access MSL.

Ty for comments. I am getting same warning on customer site. Our communication is HTTP. As far as i understand if we do not configure communication HTTPS there is no problem with upgrade SEP Manager servers to 12.1.6 which have Windows XP and Windows 2003 clients. Am i right ?

    Best Regards.

    Hi  Batuhancalin

Yes, you are right,  As commented by default HTTP setting is used.

There will be no problem upgrading SEPM when - Use HTTP protocol is enabled.

The warning appear as a reminder.

Please remember to mark this as solved if you do not have additional questions.

This is only applicable if SSL has been enabled on SEPM for client communication. The warning appear as a reminder if HTTPS communication is used. Continue the upgrade & it should  complete successfully.

I will also try to check if we can make it documented more precisely.
