  • 1.  Tojan or not? Trojan.Win32.Basin.d (v)

After running a scan with Symantec Endpoint Protection that was updated before running last nights scan found no viruses, but an additional malware program used is finding Trojan.Win32.Basin.d (v) it shows it is in C:/Windows/SysWOW64/mfc45.dll which can be found on the system. Another locations is C:/Windows/System32/mfc45.dll but does not exist and can not be found during a scan of the system drive like the other location? I see that mfc45.dll on different forums claim it is a false positive that has something to do with Windows Vista, 7, and 8 beta systems that appeared a while back after one of their Update Tuesdays and should be left alone. Hope someone knows a little more and a possible fix for this file being flagged.

If you have any doubt, feel free to submit the sample to threatexpert.com or virustotal.com and check what other AV vendor verdict there.

A quick Google around, I do not see any writeup on Trojan.Win32.Basin.d (v) malware family.

What additional malware program were you using ?
