  • 1.  Too many old virus definition on a WinXP SEP12 Client

    Posted Sep 17, 2014 12:04 PM

    Hi!

Recently I've noted that about 3,0 GB of old Virus defs are stored in:

    SEP 12 Client.png

    I've two questions:

    1) How to safely delete the uneeded old definitions

    2) how to prevent that - in the future - will be the same issue.

    Thanks in advance

    Looks to be corrupted.

Run the symhelp tool to verify:

Troubleshooting computer issues with the Symantec Help support tool

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO80839

Clear them out manually, follow this:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO59193

Also, you're running a very old version of 12.1, I would suggest upgrading to the latest, 12.1.4.1b

    Hi Brian.

I've solved the issue simply rebboting the client.

After reboot all old definitions were purged.

    Thanks in advance
