Ghost Solution Suite

Hey, I have a brand new toshiba tecra a10 laptop that I cannot boot from any ghost cds. Even if it was not the right ghost boot cd, ghost would always load (this is what would happen on other computers). Right now, if I put ANY ghost boot CD in the drive I get a "Boot Failure" message. If I put in a Windows XP CD, it will load. Anyone have any idea why this is happening, and is there something I am suppose to do to get ghost boot cd's to work on this machine?

What version of GSS are you useing? If your useing 2.5 have you tried other pre-os's?

This could be a result of BIOS emulation in relation to the hard drive. This is especially evident when using DOS as a PreOS. Try WinPE and see if Ghost will load up with that type of boot disk.

Using 2.5. I did try WinPE this morning and that did work. I was hoping there would be a work around though as just the Ghost boot CD's for the particular network driver are so much quicker to load. And to be honest it should work. Its hard to keep track of what computers Ghost CD's work on and what ones to use WinPE on.

It is true that using the WinPE takes a little more time where adding drivers and booting up with the disk are concerned. But you will make up for this with Ghostcasting speeds.

hey guys i finally got around to this and still havign a problem. I made the WinPE disc and it loads fine, but that is all I noticed. I am use to when then ghost cd doesnt bind, you will not see the multicast option. With WinPE you see the multicast option even if it doesn't bind. Anyways I loaded the CD and went to get my image and the laptop is getting a 127.0.0.1 IP. So I recreated the winPE CD this time adding new drivers (took the driver from the toshiba site) and pointed to the folder and added it and tried again. Same thing. I get a 127 IP... This is driving me crazy...

i tried using the -nousb but this gave me the error: error loading OS ... still no where....

another update. I tried making a bootable USB drive on my memory stick with the driver and it came up with an IP... So WinPE and bootable CD does not work. BUT bootable USB memory stick worked fine... Now what would be the reasoning behind this?
