TouchDown

When you send a voice command from Android Auto to send a hangouts message it takes all the commands and message fine and says it will send with your google account....but then tries to open and send throug Touchdown.  Uninstalling Touchdown solves the problem...but I would like to continue using touchdown and feel it is probably being caused by touchdown as no other similar email apps seem to create the same issues.  I can use Outlook as an alternative...but I prefer Touchdown.

After reinstalling Touchdown, does it still default to Touchdown as the email app?

Im not sure its "email", but no reinstall does nothing. Its some messaging interface that responds to a voice command to send a hangouts message to some contact. If you do a voice command in google now to send a hangouts message to someone it doesn't know to use hangouts or touchdown and has you pick. Somehow Android Auto uses the same stuff, but incorrectly picks touchdown and opens a new email in touchdown with whatever command is sent. Somehow you guus are tied into the same messaging interface hangouts is supposed to be a lone app on.

This is what you get after some voice commands to send a hangouts message. At this point voice control fails.

What was the exact string used to trigger a message that you are using in this case? I ran into an issue where one of my colleagues could reproduce it on her device, but using the same string worked fine on mine.

Voice command that says..."Send Hangouts Message to (any contact you have in hangouts)" on google now.

I have verified the same thing on like three devices and a good few versions of touchdown over the last 6 months.

What devices are you seeing this on? I just tried it and it opened hangouts as expected.

I've tried it on an LG V10, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and now  Huawei Mate 8 that doesn't even come with any of the google software that does this so it's doing it after loading all the google services and apps freshly.

Oh and at least 2 other folks are seeing the same issue here.

Okay, I'll escalate this to our QA device testing team and see if they can reproduce.

 

New post here is suggesting a * wildcard option in your Settings->Apps->Touchdown->"Open by default" parameter might be causing this issue.  Not really sure why that would respond to google now voice controls like this....but also don't know why you would have a wildcard parameter there?

any progress on fixing this? I'm new to TouchDown and have no option but  to use it for work - devastated it has ruined Google Voice commands for Hangouts on my watch ....

No ETA at this time, the dev team is currently swamped on some other issues that may take some time to resolve, and many are currently on the mid year break.

Bump. Update for this ridiculous bug? On a new phone and yet again as soon as Touchdown is installed voice command are broken. Stop blighting us, please fix.

I don't have any control over the dev team's progress- After the update there was a huge backlog created based on customer feedback that they are currently working through before any major update can occur.
