    So here is my question

i've been using touchdown for several years now and i do like the way it handles, but my company no longer supports non-approved applications and want to us to install a software that is not as good and drains battery. I have two possible theories on how to work around it

1.-modifiying activesyn device type string from 'touchdown' to something else that my company would like but not sure how to get that info

2.-maybe configuring touchdown as if it were 'outlook' or at least the server would think that

    any ideas? please advise,

Changing the standard device type identification to overcome security restrictions placed by the organization is something that would not be recommended or encouraged, since that would be a violation of the company's security policies and could place the security of the companys data in jeopardy. Besides the fact that something like this is not untraceable, leading to the users employment placed at risk.

while we appreciate the corporate protocol sensitivity it totally avoids answering the question even if you added a disclaimer that while we cannot embrace doing something against corporate security protocol answer would be X. Yet the respondant take the time to offer some babysitting advice that really arguably is a waste of space to have to read past yet still to have no answer. If you Cannot contribute something of some value, aside from some corporate precautionary disclaimer statement just don't reply.
