  • 1.  Tracking Cookie/Cookies Centralized Exception Policy

    Posted May 10, 2010 09:17 AM
    Hello-

I added  a Centralized Exception Policy for both "tracking cookies" and "tracking cookie" to suppress the email reporting of these risks. Settings are set to log only however I am still receiving emails reporting these. Any thoughts?

    Thank you.

    Check for the following steps

    1. Go Centrallized Exception in the Symantecn Endpoint Protection Manager
    2. Add or Edit the Policy Centrallized Exception Policy
    3. Go to Centralized Exception Tab on the Left Side
    4. Click on Add and select Security Risk Exception > Known Risk
    5. Select Tracking Cookie and Click OK (Selected Risk Exception will be displayed in the Exception List)
    6. Click OK again to close the Policy

After clicking OK in step 6, the default action is ignore. I assume this means that SEP will ignore tracking cookies and leave them alone. What I would prefer to happen is that tracking cookies are deleted and no email notification from SEPM of a Risk. I would like Symantec to delete tracking cookies and not email me. Can this be done by choosing “log only” instead of “ignore” under action? Or does this simply log tracking cookies and leaves them alone?

YOu can delete them, but you'll either have notifications ON for all risks detected (including Tracking Cookies) or all OFF and the user would NEVER get a pop-up when something malicious was found.
