Traffic Utilzation is very high between GUP and SEP Client
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 7 comments
Hi All,
Greetings from India!!!!
We are facing problem in SEP environment after configuring and enabling GUP. The utilization of traffic between the configured GUP and SEP client is very high. Also the client seems to be polling the SEPM instead of the GUP for the daily updates.
Version of SEPM: 11.0 MR3
Version of configured GUP: 11.0 MR3
Version of SEP clients: Mixed environment of MR2 and MR3.
Kindly suggest since it is hampering the daily operations.

Upgrade MR2 clients to MR3 because they are falling back to SEP when they don't get the update.
Check "Never" under LU/GUP option to bypass GUP.
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. It is already tried still not working.
How high is the utilisation between SEP client and GUP? Are they on the same site?
How many clients do you have connecting to your GUP?
Bear in mind that clients will still connect to SEPM to upload logs, opstate and download policies, but will then connect to the GUP for content.

Hi Paul,
We will get back with the below information ASAP.
GUP Clients upload logs to SEPM.
Hi Paul,
As we can specify the number of records and the size of the logs to upload of GUP assigned clients to the SEPM, can we mention the time interval as well or schedule some time for the same?
Also what would be the default time of this gup assigned clients which will upload the logs to the SEPM?
And also the approximate link utilized by the same considering appromimate below 100 clients?

Ranjit

Install all the MS patches
Hi Yogesh,
Please be informed that there could be some malwares using port 2967 to generate high traffic. I would suggest you to install all the microsoft security patches on machines which are causing high traffic and then check the traffic between the client and the GUP.
