    Good afternon Ladies and Gents

I have a customer that has three seperate SEPM servers on three different networks. 2 out of the three get the .err extension whenever they perform a manual update using the downloaded .jdb file . I have directed them to try all solutions I could find from cleaning corrupt defs , re downloading the file, changeing to keeping 1 definition and  uninstalling Liveupdate and reinstalling it and it still gives the .err extension. Anyone have any other ideas?

What version of SEPM(s) are they running? Did this just or has anything recently changed?

    They are running 12.1.671

Check the SesmLu.log to see if it shows any errors. You can post here for review if you wish.

This might sound stupid :) Check if your SEPM is on C or D. sometimes you will find two incoming folders.

You need to put the JDB to the inbox where SEPM is installed.

Thanks for your comment Rafeeq. Do you know if the extraction process will automatically start if I place it in the wrong place or a simular Path but different drive ?

If you place in correct path, it starts automatically. If placed in wrong directory, you get the .err file(s)

Nope , it has to be in the incoming folder, SEPM service will keep checking this folder ( seems to be a constant check) the moment you drop a JDB it starts the execution.

I see that the SEPM is on C drive from the logs , you should have placed the JDB in the  C only

Can you do a quick check to see if any other application is using port 9090?

The error look similar to this document

Rafeeq I always place the file in this location . You mentioned other path's so I figured I'd ask if you have seen the auto extraction if placing it in a different folder. Brian I do not think that placing it anywhere else other than its dedicated location will produce the .err. I download the .jdb then transfer to a temp folder and nothing happend until I put it where it belongs.

did you check if port 9090 is in use by any application?

Netsat -ano | find "9090" , who is using it?

The server is LISTENING on that port but there are no ESTABLISHED connections  to it so no there is no other program using it .
