Hi All......

I've installed SEPM 11 MR 6 and live update administrator version 2.2.2 and some client SEP 11 MR 4 - 5 MR - MR 6, SEPM definition updates through Live Update Administrator, at the time of the second update times there are some constraints:

1. Downloadable Version manager, the date indicated will not change.
2. Antivirus and antispyware protection 32 and 64 bit and Network Threat Protection on the SEPM can not be dropped from the Lua but  Theart Proactive Protection can come down and normal  updates.
3. If I push with JDB file, Antivirus and Antispyware can update and date will change

My question:

1. Why it happened and what could be the cause.
2. For SEPM MR 6,  what version Java must be installed that recommendation
3. For client whether Java is also required.
4. To Lua whether Java should be installed.
5. Did any BUG on SEP 11 MR 6

Please help with my problem could be quickly completed.

Thanks,

Sincerely,
Agus Bahtiar

It sounds like you have a

It sounds like you have a slightly complex setup.  Is there some pressing need to use LUA?

Is it possible that you have not set LUA to get all of the product updates you need for SEP?

If you have the SEPM connect to Symantec's LiveUpdate server, do all components update then?

The version of Java should have no bearing on the SEP client.  It only affects the Java remote console (if you are using that to connect to the SEPM remotely).

Hi Agus, I would like to

Hi Agus,

I would like to inform you that LUA is recommended only if you are hosting Multiple Symantec Products on your environment and also yes for bandwidth factors, but that too depends on size of the network.

If I push with JDB file, only Antivirus and Antispyware can update and date will change. Why ?
- JDB's and IU's are designed to update only Antivirus and Antispyware defnitions. PTP and NTP will be updated thru automated downalod system either via the SEPM or  LUA.

1. Why it happened and what could be the cause?
 - There can be many possibilities out here viz :
    1) Either there are exisiting corrupt instances of Virus defns.
    2) While selecting the Product in LUA, you may also like to check Symantec Enpoint Protection's sub components(AV/PTP/NTP), if selected or not.
    3) You may like to run a manual download of the defn for Symantec Endpoint Protection Product.

2. For SEPM MR 6,  what version Java must be installed that recommendation
-  JRE 6.0. This Java setup file can be found @ the following location : <drive> \Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\webapps\scm\clientpkg.

3. For client whether Java is also required.
- Not necessary.

4. To Lua whether Java should be installed.
- Yes.

5. Did any BUG on SEP 11 MR 6
- Nothing noted w.r.t LUA till date.

Recommendations:
Either open up a ticket with symantec tech support for the LUA, if at all its required on your network, or else, eliminate the LUA and let the clients download defn from SEPM, which works smoothly.

  MG

Hi Agus, I would recommend

Hi Agus,

I would recommend the same Java version that Symantec provides with its product, which you can find @ the following location : <drive> \Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\webapps\scm\clientpkg.

Latest version is 6.
