Hi Guys,

- Whenever a job fails in BackUp Exec you always go to Job Monitor and select the particular job.

- Refer the technote that is mentioned in the Job Logs as V-XXXXXXXX something

- Is there a way out by which we can troubleshhot the job error using the logs on the client machine or in BackUp Exec Server

- For example, in NBU you check the logs in the installation directory of both the NBU and client.

Will really appreciate your valuable comments and suggestions

BE will create a job log file, for each job it processed.

Can be found in Installation Drive:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data. (On BE server)

By using the job log you can get the information regarding Backedup Data (No of Directories, files, skipped files etc), Media and device used for backup,Media set information, compression, encryption details total time taken to complete the backup job, any errors occured during the job.

For example if you have 5 drives in your selction list and you are facing problem while backing up the last directory, job log will show this in detail. (Where the error occured during the backup of backup set).

Hope this helps...

Hi,

Wouldn't it be wiser to check the job logs under job history rather than navigating to Installation Drive:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data and see the same job log there?
