  • 1.  TruScan definition not updating? SEP 11RU6 MP3

    lol okay.. this problem seems bugging us since forever.. its about time to check what actually happen

    Any idea what to check if the update failed? From the client status, there's no definition for TruScan..

     

    I did find some idea to check on this path and check the liveupdate log

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\SyKnAppS\

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate

     

    But seems like the solution proposed is to repair or reinstall it

    do you have the sylink log, can you post it?

    What is the OS?

    Try this

    1. Disable running verification on every process launch to slow the leak. This is a configuration in PTP that can be done from the management console.
    2. Revert the DigiNotar patch (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2616676  )

    Please remember that TruScan component is not fully supported for Server Operating Systems. It was replaced by SONAR component in 12.1 version and is fully supported on every operating system.

    Hi All,

    Thanks for the responds. OS is Win XP.... i'll try to get some log for anakysis..

     

    just curious, you guys never encounted this kind of problem before? happen very often for us..

     

    Also since Vikram noted about Diginotar, did Symantec using cert from them?

    The KB that you forward is new to me... checking on it now...

    I would suggest to try the repair (actually "Modify") of PTP from Add/Remove programs as shown below

    or

    Copy all files from a good client from the following folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\SyKnAppS

    and replace them on the client which has the issue - after that, be patient because the update might take some time before showing up on the client interface.
