This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hey Guys, is it normal to see our managed machines still at Dec 31, 2009 for PTP? If I run the inteligent updater it will bring much more currecnt PTP defs. Just curious why this is happening and it it is normal.

Symantec should be releasing new PTP defs this week.

I have the same problem. Some

I have the same problem. Some of my clients update directly from my LUA and they have Proactive Threat Protection with 18.01.2010 r19. Other clients that update from patched SEPM 11.0.5002.333 have old Proactive Threat Protection bases with 31.12.2009 r20. What is the solution of this problem? Just wait and wait?

This should not be marked as

This should not be marked as solved since the date is incorrect, as of this moment PTP definitions are January 18, 2010 R19 as stated by Rafeeq and others. This appears to be yet another date issue, ugh. All my RU5 servers are stuck at 12.31.2009 R20 as stated above by STF. Unmanaged clienst are able to pull the new PTP definitions.

After 2 years of development you would think they would get this product right by now.

Paul or any other Symantec Employee care to comment?

All - If you would please

All -

If you would please check this thread out:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep...

If the clients get PTP defintions from LiveUpdate or LUA they are getting the latest PTP defintions.
If the cllients are getting their PTP defintions from SEPM the defintions are dated 12-31-2009 Rev. 20.

From Jim Waggoner:

You should have NTP

You should have NTP definitions. PTP will be posted early in the week.

@ Rafeeq I think that was for

@ Rafeeq

I think that was for the certfied JDB files which have been at 12/31/2009 as well.
The rapid release JDB files have been up-to-date for a while. In either case JDB files only update antivirus and antispyware defs.

My RU5 patched SEPM has

My RU5 patched SEPM has current 2010 dated definitions, just not PTP.

@ Rafeeq, the link you provided makes no mention of PTP definitions.

@postechgeek, thanks I do see mention of this in this thread but 11 pages of posts makes it hard to find 1 piece of information that should be stated in the official status post, I do not see any mention of PTP definitions coming "later" in the "Official Staus" thread. I do see that the date 12/31 for PTP is mentioned in the KB article but it was unclear as it implies to me that this is fixed in the patch.

Thanks everyone for the comments,

Steven
