De facto when AV does something, it starts jumping up and down, waving its arms, and shouting "Hey! I found a virus! Look at me! I'm soooo goooood!"
Hi! Did anyone find out what the problem was with this error?
I'm now having this issue as well. The error is: "TruScan has generated an error: code 14: description: CAL Failure"
I'm not sure what to do about that and it's causing my clients to show the red line slashing through a circle in the system tray. And everybody panics when they don't see that green ball!
Incidently, I'm running version 11.0.2020.56 for the client and SEPM, if that helps.
Ditto 9Nails' comment.
Is this showing up in the client logs on your SEPM's?
Am testing MR3 but only see this issue on 2 out of the 700 machines deployed, and it resolved itself eventually. It could produce help desk calls though.
I'm also having this problem on a Windows Vista Machine in MR3. Have even uninstalled and reinstalled. Upon reinstall the problem appeared to be fixed but after about an hour it came back.
I just uninstalled and reinstalled MR3 on my Vista workstation to try to get rid of the "teefer driver failed to load" error and now I have the "TruScan has generated an error: code 14: description: CAL Failure" Error.
My workstation went and polled for updates from the Management Server, the TruScan error cleared and now I am up to the Wednesday, July 30, 2008 r1 definitions....which is the item that caused me to go looking in the logs in the first place. So now the circle is complete, I guess I will reboot.??..??
Same error here on MR2 MP2 Vista Business 32bit. I also have the Proactive Threat Protection waiting for updates. Some days when new definitions are downloaded the PTP errors go away. I'm not sure if upgrading to MP3 will help or not.
I'm still having this problem on one Vista 32 bit machine since my last post. What I've noticed:
-The problem pops up every day, until at somepoint an update is available and then it self corrects, only to return the next day.
- I've uninstalled SEP and ran the Norton removal tool afterwards: the problem persists.
- I'm suggesting it may something to do with the console client being installed?? (i doubt it, but ironically its my workstation thats having the problem)
I've noticed several others on this forum are having the same problem. If anyone from symantec would like to work towards fixing this, I can reproduce the problem daily and am willing to help.
I also have this issue. Is new today. We are running 11.0.3001.2224 on the client which is close to the latest release. Anyone had a resolution to this?
We are having the same problem. Currently on MR3 but had the same problem with MR2. Have completely uninstalled on server and workstations and re-installed. Didn't help. Symantec has been saying that they are aware of the problem and that it will be fixed but nothing so far.
Hello All,
Symantec is aware of the problem and is working on a fix. Everyone who is experiencing this issue should monitor http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2008100612252748
When we have a resolution in will be documented in the KB.
FYI
This also includes software virtualization products like softgrid.
It would be very helpful if the error message generated included the name of the file which caused the error.
This problem is still not solved. I have the latest version and still get "TruScan has generated an error: code 14: description: CAL Failure"
