I am having a problem creating a working image of a laptop loaded with Windows 8 that has a GPT hard drive. I can capture an image but when I apply it to another machine it will not boot up. I get an error code 0xc0000225.

I have an external hard drive that boots up a windows PE image configured with ghost 11.5. I have tried using the Image Boot, Image All, and Image Disk switches to create the image. The end result is still the same. The machine I apply the image to comes up with a 0xc0000225 error on booting up.

I have been able to capture working images of Windows 8 on machines configured with a MBR hard disk but so far not GPT. Also these systems cannot be converted to MBR.

How can I capture a working image of this machine?

    1. Have you tried with the UEFI bios turned off?

    2. I think you need Ghost 12 in this situation. Only currently available if you have a maintenance agreement.

Yes. I had to set the BIOS for legacy booting to get the laptop to boot from my hard drive I use to capture the images.

    Check out this link:  http://www.registryrecycler.com/blog/2014/02/how-to-fix-0xc0000225-boot-error-in-windows-8-1/

With Windows 7, you would get this behaviour if the small hidden system partition ( about 100Mb) was not imaged along with the main C: drive.  I'm assuming Win 8 has the same structure (must check sometime). So make sure that you are imaging all the relevant partitions and that the partition order remains the same. If the partition order is incorrect (such as a system recovery partition at the start of the drive) and you don't image that as well, then the BCD configuration on the target will be incorrect for booting.

I had thought that at least one of the different switches such as Image Boot, Image All, and Image Disk would have preserved these system partitions.

I'm pretty sure the solution is Ghost 12.  Or you could try Paragon Partition Manager.

Instead of changing anything/everything ,use the latest version of Ghost by contacting support ,which would help you to resolve the issues cloning UEFI machines.

i contact support to request the latest update to image win 8.1.

i get Ghost Boot Disk Creator 3.0 & succesfully restore the image on acer E5-472G.

btw, this update requires current maintenance for Ghost Solution Suite.

or you can just join GSS 3.0 beta test and then get almost latest files.

ps. this version of ghost is a little lower than the latest update but it do support uefi.
