Trying to understand Calendar Item Date in archive

This issue has been solved. See solution.
I archived a Calendar Item that display a date of Dec 20 2012 in the html rendering. When I open the item in Outlook, the Calendar Item has a created date of 2/28/2011 and is recurring with no end date.
I have Archive Unexpired Calendar Events set to: ON
and
Do Not Archive Pending Reminder set to: Off
Can anyone provide some guidance?

Date is based on the archived date, it's on the roadmap to change though

Not all calendar items display like this.
Calendar display in EV has always been problematic
It's been that way ever since I started with the product in 2006 and was often complained about for being confusing and hard to understand
