Turbo Tax Start Issue

Hi,

Wanted to check if anyone else may have encountered any issues with using the 2008 version of Turbo Tax Deluxe after installing SEP?

I had someone report that with SEP installed, it does not start...just hourglasses.  Without it, it starts up fine.

I did not try it myself, so I don't have any residuals to look at, such as SEP or Windows event logs, but thought a quick message to the SEP user community might provide some insights???

Yes, I have seen this issue.  Turbo Tax will not even start unless SEP is completely removed.  Did you find out any details about a fix?

Intuit did not provide a fix, however, they did send an email to me stating that there is no known fix for this situation and that I am free to use the online version of TurboTax (for free, I might add). Some of the posts in their discussion boards talk about allowing the various scripts for TT through the firewall. I have no idea what scripts they are talking about, mind you, but am interested in trying. I was able to uninstall, yes...completely remove, SEP and TT ran just fine. I have since reinstalled SEP while I wait for the rest of my tax documents to arrive...
 
It's obvious to me that there a conflict between the two applications running at the same time. I wonder of Symantec has a work around for this situation? I am sure that myself and the other users of TT / SEP would prefer to keep our various computers protected - even when doing our taxes.
