    Guys on your experience.

It is really requiered and mandatory to do full scan everyday?  or combination of active and full scan will do?

We have 300 Servers on our Data Center  running apps, file servers, email servers.

I have now this schedule jobs forr Scan :

     >>> 1 x full scan week (every friday)

    >> > active scan everyday

    What about yours??

    hi utak,
if you have auto protect enabled then you need not to perform schedule scan on servers, considering them as production servers it is a best practice to scan them once a week, and regarding the active scan this is also not a problem for you.

    Hi,

Actually we have set schedule daily scan for all servers @ mid-Night,

And also its depends on your data, If you have your data in TB so have to set the schedule weekly.

symantec antivirus patches are not related to schedule scans, if it is a managed client then it will be updated as the update schedule is configured on the server, and regarding operating system patches, the thread starter here has mentioned regarding schedule scan and not updates..

I agree with Sapta post, a daily full scan is not necessary, in fact all new virus defs coming on daily bases are deployed and protect in a safe way all managed clients.
In our organization a full scan is performed on a weekly base during the night.

    Hi Kajal
Win patches has got nothing to do with scanning.

Schedule scanning is neccesary becuse it scans the files and folders deep down the level whereas the Autoprotect scans only those ile which is infected .

And also, if the client av software doesn't have new definitions yet, AP cannot detect this. So we need scheduled scans for the workstations.

According to my experience Schedule scan is neccesary because i have seen pcs in which schedule scan detects virus although the pca has  autoprotect running. so you should scan the pc atleast the drive which has your operating system.
