UAC setting required for ITMS 7.6 Upgrade?

While upgrading from ITMS 7.5 to 7.6 last week on our DEV system, the install instructions (on page 157 of the "Installation and Upgrade Guide" :  http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC8039 ) instructed me to enable UAC on the SMP server since I have .NET Framework 4.5 installed.  Here is the exact quote:

Check the .Net Framework version that is installed on the computer. If .Net Framework 4.5 or 4.5.1 is installed on the computer, then execute the following steps:
    ■ Enable UAC, by executing the following steps:
    ■ Click Start > Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings.
    ■ To turn on UAC, move the slider to choose when you want to be notified, and then click OK.  Administrator permission is required. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

I enabled UAC as instructed and the upgrade went fairly smooth.  However, now I'm having some other challenges on the server (unrelated to ITMS) due to having UAC enabled.  We typically do not enable UAC on our internal servers since a number of applications require UAC be disabled.  This is the first I've seen an application install request that I turn it on.  The install document does not explain why the install needs UAC on or what ramifications there may be with leaving it turned off.  Can anyone (Symantec) shed light on this?
