    Hi,

I have a company laptop and it is encrypted with Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3. I keep receiving messages from one of the inbuild diagnostics tools that a BIOS update is required.

If i were to update the BIOS, would this cause an issue for the Symantec Encryption?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

A quick search doesn't reveal any articles on the subject...

However, I'd be careful with any changes to the underlying system of an encrypted machine.  If you must update the BIOS, then I'd recommend either decrypting the drive first.

I would recommend you unencrypt, backup, then upgrade the bios.  Upgrading the bios may be hindered by or hinder the encryption.  I realize this takes time; however, not as much time as a failed bios upgrade.  HTH
