  • 1.  Unable to acces Task Server Management tab

    Hi All,

Been doing some work on our Altiris database and I think I might have broken something. I've been checking the Altiris NS log and I'm getting tons of error messages about failed tasks (see below). When I've gone into look at the task server, IE displays the message below as well. I'm stuck as to where to look from here. It could be a problem with the username but nothing has changed with that. I could change the password but I want to find out where to check in Altiris that it uses that account. If I reset the password, it could break other databases as well.

Still new at this so please bear with me.

Error message in log and on webpage is:-

Failed to start tasks - database is not ready: Altiris.NS.Exceptions.DatabaseNotReadyException: Failed to construct DatabaseContext object. Connection to database failed. ---> Altiris.NS.Exceptions.AeXException: Failed to open database connection. Current user is OUSEDALE\AltirisAdmin. Error: SQL Server does not exist or access denied. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

    Any help greatly received.

    Many thanks

    Leonard

    Hi Leonard,
As the post pinned to the top indicates, these forums have moved. However, for now, try doing the following. When logged onto the server, open a web browser and goto http://localhost/Altiris/NS/Install/NSSetup.aspx.
This is called the 'mini-setup' process, and should help you confirm the passwords Altiris uses. If that doesn't work, you will need to a repair of Notification Server (and any associated Notification Server specific hotfixes, usually named Altiris NS SP3 KBxxxxx), from add remove programs.
