  • 1.  Unable access IT Analytics cube

I have installed and configurated the IT Analytics solution, but when I go under "Reports" -> "IT Analytics" -> "Cubes" and I select a cube (eg "Computers Cube") I receive the following message:

The authenticated user cannot access the requested cube. Please verify that the authenticated user has proper privileges to the requested cube on the SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services instance on which it is hosted, and that the client machine has the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider installed. Additionally check the browser settings for the internet zone this site shows up in and verify that the setting called "Access data sources across domains" under Miscellaneous is set to "Enable" or "Prompt". Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider is required for the Office Web Components to communicate with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services. This is a standard component bundled with recent Microsoft products such as Office 2007 and SQL Server 2005 Management Studio, and is also available from the Microsoft Web site. To download Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider, navigate to the section labeled "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider" at the following URL: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=df0ba5aa-b4bd-4705-aa0a-b477ba72a9cb&displaylang=en.

On my computer I have installed both the "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider" and "Office Web Components". Under IT Analytics settings -> Cubes -> Security -> "Security roles" I have set the menage cube permission for "Symantec Administrators" (I'm connect to the console with like Symantec Admin)

    Where I'm wrong?

Add the FQDN to trusted sites or intranet sites.  Does it work after this step?

    Thank's for the reply,

the FQDN is already added to trust sites.

Are you an administrator on your workstation with UAC disabled?

I am experiencing the same problem as described.  If I try to access a cube from within the console, when logged into the NS VM or the SQL Server VM,  I am able to access the cube.

However, if I try from my laptop I get this "authenticate user cannot access the cube" error on any cube I try.  I've download the web components and the OLE DB provider as mentioned.  I added the FQDN of the SQL server and NS to my trusted sites and verified that the "access data across domains" was enabled for all trusted sites.

Is there a log file somewhere that helps to debug this issue.

My laptop is on a completely different network with many firewalls in between my laptop and the VM's.  Is this the issue?  If it is what ports/exceptions do I have to request to have opened?

When I go directly to the cubes though, I am able to use the pivot table. However when i try to open an IT Analytics report I get the same error as everyone.
