We have trying this for days. We have created an automation using boot disk creator. However, when the system boots into automation, it keeps looking for DHCP service and defaults to 169.254... IP address and does not retain the static IP address in the Boot disk creator. WE have checked the same on different hardware too. We have tried combinations of different  network drivers and also downladed drivers from the OEM website. The result is still the same. Can anyone suggest?

Are you SURE you're getting the right preboot build?

How are you booting these into automation if you don't have a DHCP server?  Thumbdrive?  Are you SURE it's being updated?  Maybe try tossing in an extra file you can look for or something.  My "guess" is you're not getting the preboot environment you THINK you're getting, or something like that.

We are booting into the automation environment environment all right. The problem is after running the staticip.bat file it tries to find the DHCP server address. However, since we don't have a DHCP server we are deploying using static IP addresses.

    I understand that.

My question is how do you know the PE environment is being updated?

For example.  Automation folders in Deployment Solution 7.1 and in Deployment Solution 7.5 are NOT updated when they are rebuilt using the console.  So you can make changes in the console, rebuild the environment, and the OLD environment continues to be used, not the new one with static IP or whatever changes you may have made.  This becomes very confusing to people using the product until they understand how to udate the automation environment.

Which is why I asked HOW you are getting into the PE environment.  If you are using Automation folders, the answer may be that they are not getting updated.  If you are using a thumb drive, perhaps something else.  Normally, when you rebuild an environment and you're using PXE, the environment is automatically updated, but this would not be possible for you because you don't have DHCP and PXE requires DHCP.  So I was wondering how you are updating your PE environment?

Is it a thumb drive?  CD? Automation folder? Some other method?
