Can someone help solve this error? It occurs each time that I run Ghost, sometimes at 18% or 20% (quite variable) or as in this case 30%. Ghost was working perfectly, and now its just one failure after another.

storage controller

I would recommend upgrading to a later version of Ghost. Ghost 2003 may not be adequate for taking this image. I imagine it is having an issue with the storage controller.

The error is not due to the

The error is not due to the storage controller, but rather is being caused by the filesystem structure of the data - the fault is happening in a piece of code that is processing the NTFS MFT structure for one particular file, where that file's MFT record has overflowed and occupies multiple MFT records. Although this is normally handled fine by Ghost, there is a specific rare case where it was not and that version of Ghost won't be able to proceed. This is resolved in the current business versions of Ghost (Ghost Solution Suite 2.5), although in your case this is "Norton Ghost 2003" which is the old consumer version of genuine Ghost (indeed the last version, as the consumer product currently sold as "Norton Ghost" is a subset of Backup Exec System Recovery rather than Ghost). The current consumer "Norton Ghost 14" should not have this problem either, but it's worth bearing in mind that as a completely different product to the one you have it cannot work with any existing .GHO-format image files you may have.

Nigel;
Is this something that I can correct (i.e. find the file that is causing the problem and exclude it from the process or edit and divide it into segments)? I really don't want to buy a new copy of Ghost if I don't have to.

Possibly

There will be one particular file or directory which has the problematic structure to its sequence of MFT records causing this, presumably somewhere close to the MFT record number indicated in the dump, and so it's possible that something could be done with that by removing the file and recreating it or something of that nature.

However, more than that it's hard to say definitively, because we have never had a case of this reproduced in-house to see what the actual data is that is triggering the fault. As is so often  the case with Ghost, due to the size of the affected images/disks we had to infer the cause and resolve the fault at a remove, purely from post-mortem information. Thus we have never had a chance to learn the wider context of the problem, and in particular learn whether there's some particular common attributes to the cases where it has occurred which would allow us to suggest a simpler workaround.

After trying to use Norton

After trying to use Norton System works to perform the fix using DISK DOCTOR (several times), I switched to CHKDSK. I set it to fix SYSTEM ERRORS only and ran it. Then I ran Ghost and it worked fine. For some reason Disk Doctor didn't work as it should have.

Thanx for all of the help!
