Unable to connect to DHCP 1993 Error HP/Intel E1000 Driver

Created: 05 Oct 2012 | 5 comments

We just recently got new HP laptops in; The 6570b upgrading from the 6560b. I use the Ghost Boot Wizard to create USB network boot drives. I have never had an issue with connection until we got these latest HPs.

I have the latest DOS drivers from both Intel for the E1000 series adapters and from HP.

When boot it looks as though it is getting through the boot sequence and loading the driver fine. But when I get into Ghost and try to connect to the unicast server I get 19913 error: unable to connect to DHCP.

I have looked and looked and tried everything I can find on the forums but nothing seems to work.

I have been all over the bios, protocol.ini, autoexec.bat and config.sys

Please help!

Which NIC chipset does your system have ?

Many modern chipset now require you to use WinPE rather than DOS.

Enter 82579 into the search field for this forum. There are MANY postings on this chipset which has proved particularly challenging to get working even on WinPE. Some postings have links to drivers that have been proved to work, so that would be your starting point.

Did you read the earlier posting about searching on "82579" for previous threads listing download locations for Vista 32 bit drivers that work with WinPE in GSS 2.5.1.2266 ?
