Unable to Create Image for a Windows 2008 Standard R2 Server
Just installed GSS 2.5.1 on a Dell PowerEdge R710 running Windows 2008 Enterprise R2 with latest updates. Ran LiveUpdate but no updates were found. Installed the Ghost Client on an HP Proliant DL 145 G2 running Windows 2008 Standard R2 with latest updates. The HP uses Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit adapters; we're using the Microsoft drivers.
Created an image destination and a Create Image task. I executed the task and everything seems fine up to the point where you would expect the server to be imaged to reboot. Instead, it just sits there. On the imaging server, the Ghostcasting server is waiting for the "client" to make a connection. Eventually it times out and fails. On the server to be imaged, I see the following log entries in C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Ghost\ngctw32.txt:

------------
This was with a WINPE-512 environment. I've also tried it with WINPE and PCDOS. I've tried it with default network drivers, NetXtreme 6.34, and NetXtreme 6.36 drivers. Occasionally I will NOT get the application fault but the server still does not reboot.
My servers are in a colocation facility, so it is operationally difficult to create a manual boot process.
Can we image a Windows 2008 Std R2 server using native GSS 2.5.1 facilities or do I have to install and configure some PXE environment (including a PXE boot server) and jump through lots of hoops? If it is the latter, can you point me in the direction of some good documents to walk me through this. If it is the former, what am I doing wrong?
Let me know. Thanks.

Having similar issues
I just upgraded our environment to WinPE since our servers have moved to 2k8 R2 and 3Com PXE is no longer supported. WinPE was the only choice - PXE booting to the WinPE 3.0 environment works great after much frustration - however whenever I choose "configuration" in the clone task, the task will start the ghostcast session, complete, and then return to the console, disconnect, receive the configuration, and then reconnect to the console, and sit there endlessly until the task times out. It never reboots to the target operating system unless you don't include configuration in your clone task.
Any help Symantec?
Thanks!
