unable to create selection list on backup

Coying backup files from disk to tape and get an error "Unable to create selection list."

This could happen is I select 500 files to backup or one file to backup. I eventually have the system to accept one of my backup attempts and then can do the remaining files usually in three or four jobs.

I have performed a LiveUpdate on my system (rev 6325)

Michael,

The first thing I would suggest doing is getting on the latest revision of Backup Exec (7170). You can download this from either backupexec.com or http://fileconnect.symantec.com

Thanks for the reply.

I have been performing live update, but it never gets the 7170 release.

I have seen the SP1 for 7170, but it states you need to have rev 7170 first before applying.

I did a search, but was not able to find the 7170 upgrade from 6xxx

Michael,

To upgrade to 7170, you have to download the installer for 7170 and then run the installer. There isn't an update so to speak to go from 6235 to 7170. It's more like the upgrade from 10d to 11d.

Thanks Ben.

I went looking for it and all I see are hot fixes.

I used your fileconnect.symantec.com website and it is asking for a registration number.

I searched on my remote console and then went to the server and did a search there and was unable to find the serial the website is asking for. Do you know where that number would be stored or do you have the exact link to download the 7170 rev?
