  • 1.  Unable to encrypt PGP WDE before pre-boot on Windows 7

    Hi

I am having some problems when doing WDE on my Windows7. I'm still in the process of encryption but i notice the Passphase always appears after my pre-boot. i don't have this problem with my other laptop also on Windows 7. I have uninstall it/ reinstall it a few times but the same problem keeps coming back. I am running on a non-network environment & the laptops are stand alone with no administrators. I'm running on trial version with intent to purchase a few licences for my laptops. My questions are:

    1) What might be the possibel causes & how do i rectify it?
    2) how long does it normally take to encrypt a HD about 280GB?

    Thanks a zillion!

The very first thing that gets encrypted is the MBR, so you can start encryption, reboot and will need to authenticate EVEN if the encryption isnt finished, so this is expected behaviour.

On a normal HDD, bog standard specs I would guess it would take about 4-6 hours to encrypt a whole 260GB 5200rpm disk.  The estimate times in PGP Desktop are quite accurate though.
