No, the trial should work normally to allow you to make an image. We need a lot more information to help you further, including whether you are using PCDOS or WinPE as your preboot environment, etc, etc.

Is your workstation getting a valid IP address when you boot WinPE from USB?

Stick with unicast unless you are sure your network switches are enabled for IGMP and Multicast.

When you added drivers to WinPE, did you make sure they were Vista 32 bit drivers, as that is the version required by WinPE. The version of O/S you are trying to image is not relevant here as the only O/S running during imaging is WinPE, which in GSS is V2, based on the Vista kernel.

The lack of any IP address information suggests that you do not have a valid driver installed in WinPE.

Did you use a VISTA 32 bit driver?  That is the version required by the edition of WinPE that is used by GSS.

    hi

i did exactly what you have told me in your early message

in fact there is no windows vista 32,only vista 64 or vista

so i presume that the vista is for the 32 bit

the network card id intel (R) 82579 LM

i have donwload the drivers from intel wbsite for windows 7

do i need to download it again the one for windows vista

or there is a special driver for ghost

    thanks again

    sam

There is no special driver for Ghost because Ghost does not handle network access - network access is provided by the operating system that Ghost is running on - whether it happens to be PCDOS, WinPE or a full windows installation.

Trust me, I would not be telling you to use Vista 32 bit drivers if you could just use Win 7 drivers. So go download the Vista drivers for your 82579 and add them to your WinPE driver library. Make sure after adding the driver that you also select it otherwise it does not get included in your WinPE build.

Also view this thread: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/need-help-creating-ghost-boot-wizard-creating-usb-boot-stick  which covers the 82579 specifically, albeit in a Dell machine.

However, the 82579 does appear to cause more problems than just about any other chipset I can think of recently, so you could also type 82579 into the search engine for the Ghost forum and read up on other user's experiences.
