  • 1.  Unable to image a windows 8 machine

    I have a dell Inspirion 2350 Desktop that needs to be image.

    At first it could not create a folder in package which is this issue : www.symantec.com/docs/TECH213190

    I have then apply SP1 HF2 however still unable to image

    the following error :

    Exception has occured in File SMPPackage.cpp at Line No 154. Type of exception is GeneralError. Error is Can not find out web/unc path.. Error Description is  "util::CSMPPackage::Initialiaze". Value of Windows error code = 183 and message is " Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

    could be rights on the folder - try giving Local ADMIN rights to ALL folders under the SM agent on that site server.

    Could be no PXE server available.  Seems rare.

    Could be no IIS on the package server - I would really recommend you have IIS on that package server if not.

    Not sure, but I'd start there.  When "we" first saw that error, it was a rights issue.  I THOUGHT it was gone now, but...

    If all else fails, AND you know what you're doing, you COULD try either a different site server or try rebuilding that one.  IF this is the NS itself, then build a different site server and try capturing to that.

    IF you figure out where the issue is, and can reproduce it, call support to let them know.

    I suspect is IIS problem too but i can't seems to reproduce this error in my test environment either the support is able to reproduce too.

    Did you try to modify rights on the Agent folder on the site server to give FULL rights to everyone?  Just as a test?

    Also after you have confirmed the DLL is there, flush the IIS files so it would 100% load the new dll inside.

    There have been issues where IIS does not reload a new DLL.
