Endpoint Protection

Hope this is the right forum - the trialware download says that I need to post to SEP Trialware User Forum - except I can't find one.

I've downloaded SEP 11.4 from https://www4.symantec.com/Vrt/vrtcontroller, and I'm trying to install on a 2008 Enterprise Eerver R2 Hyper-V instance, which everything I've read says should be supported.  The install, gets most of the way through, and then backs out and says the install was cancelled.

Looking in Event Viewer, I see:


"The application (Symantec Endpoint Protection, from vendor Symantec) has the following problem:  Symantec Endpoint Protection is incompatable with this version of Windows"

Have I downloaded a wrong version?

This error may happen when a legacy version of SAV has been previously installed and not yet uninstalled.

Was this server upgraded from 2003? If so did you have SAV running on that system?

SEP 11.4 does not support Windows 2008 R2, but should install install successfully in any Hyper-V Guests of supported OS'es, even Guest OS'es on a Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V host.

MR4MP2 gets installed flawlessly, however that support for Windows Server 2008 R2 is not available yet. You can share you installation experience with us.
