unable to install symantec endpoint 12.1.2 on windows 8

This issue has been solved. See solution.

We were unable to install symantec endpoint 12.1.2  as unmanaged client on windows 8 laptop.

During installation , it started to roll back the installation. The machine had norton internet security which we had unistalled.

Please help

had some issues and its a know issue with microsoft patch on windows 8

install 12.1.3

After applying Microsoft update KB2781197 to a Windows 8 computer, the Symantec Endpoint Protection client installer fails

if you want to  install 12.1.2

remove this patch it will complete the install. Its always better to go with latest update.

so install 12.1.3

it's known issue can you post sep_inst log.

Disable Windows Defender and remove KB2781197 and try the install again

Is Windows Defender enabled? If so, disable it and remove KB2781197

Also, you can post the SEP_INST.log file.

This was fixed in RU3 which just came out. If you can, I would suggest installing RU3.

This problem is fixed in the Latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Release Update 3 (12.1 RU3) which has been released on June 6 2013.

After applying Microsoft update KB2781197 to a Windows 8 computer, the Symantec Endpoint Protection client installer fails

Fix ID: 3123310

Solution: For installations on Windows 8, removed the option to enable/disable Windows Defender after install, as this is no longer supported. Windows Security Center (WSC) will automatically disable Windows Defender when Symantec Endpoint Protection registers with WSC.

Hi

Please install SEP 12.1.3 as the Windows 8 clients when patched we will not be able to install SEP 12.1.2
