You're trying to install the very first version of SEP 12.1. The latest is 12.1 RU3. Can you try this version?

Also, is there another AV product on it currently? If so, I would suggest removing. Also, disable Windows Defender.

1.run the setup with custom installation

    2.Install only Antivirus

3.Reboot the machine and install NTP

    Silly question

If it's straight out of the box, is it the pre-installed OS?

If so did you manually remove the pre-installed antivirus software (SEP sometimes have issues removing Norton home products)

    Hello,

I believe the OS comes pre-installed with the machine. Again, it depends from vendor to vendor.

When you start the machine, was there any Norton Antivirus installed OR Symantec Endpoint Protection installed?

In case you have a Norton Antivirus, please make sure you uninstall it along with Liveupdate before installing the Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.

In your case currently, it seems you are running an Italian version of OS, correct?

Upon checking your logs, we see the below errors:

    ShowServiceProgress: incrementing tick
    ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() script execution failed.
ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() reset script failure event.
ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() is returning an error (so close to the end!)

    Suggestions -

Please ensure that the UAC, Windows Firewall and Windows Defender services are stoped and disabled on the Windows 7 machine.

Try Creating a custom setting under the “Client Install Settings” options to not use “Add the program to the Start Menu”, leave this unchecked.

Secondly, you are trying to install the SEP 12.1.671.4971.105 which is a RTM version of SEP 12.1.

Could you try installing the SEP 12.1 RU3 (SEP 12.1.3001) on the Windows 7 machine and check if that helps!!

    Hope that helps!!

    @cdp

Have you had a chance to try any of the above suggestions?

    Hi,

no at the moment no chance to try.

The notebook is going to China for 2 weeks.

    I'm sure about

    - windows defender is inactive

    - no other antivirus program are runnig

    - no it's not a preinstalled os. It was win 8, we installa a fresh win 7 + updates + alla driver/software from samsung site

I will upsate the tread once the laptop comes back.

    Thanks to all for suggestions

    ... ciao!

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

There was a known issue with SEP 12.1 RTM version. Upon comparing provided logs with the following article few entries are matching. Try the given workaround.

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 client install rolls back, returning 1603

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH170259

It's recommended to install the latest version of SEP (12.1 RU3)
