  • 1.  Unable to license Messaging Gateway VM

    Good morning everyone,

    I´m trying to register a trial license for messaging gateway (In order to try and know this product) and after several times i  was not able to do it. Every time i  select the license file on the web console an error appear. (Error: Unable to communicate with Symantec to register. Please check your connections settings and try again. Registration server returned:503 service Unavaible).The first thing i did after reading this message was to check connection configuration and network status and everything is ok (Well, not everything, but connectivity). I´ve read some post related to this issue and i found someone who has the same issue but it never mention how the problem was solved but the post was closed.

    I´ve check time: Ok

    DNS and connectivity: Ok

    8 different license keys: Same issue with all files.

    Proxy Issue?: No proxy

    Firewall: None

    Able to resolve:

    "www.google.com" and "register.brightmail.com" = 216.250.24.63 // 143.127.103.14

    You may want to verify that the Messaging Gateway is set to the correct time. This can happen if the Kerberos tokens are not within 5 minutes of each other.

    The easiest way to determine the current time is to click the Status section and look at the top where it states the period for the report, it'll say something like:

    Thursday, Jul 12, 2012 12:00 PM to Friday, Jul 13, 2012 12:24 PM PDT

    That end time is what the Messaging Gateway thinks teh current time is. If it is not correct, you should go into the Administration -> Configuration -> Control Center -> DNS/Time tab and set the time manually.

    Good morning JDavis, thank you for replying so quickly.

    I´ve check date and time and is correct, but i wasn´t able to check it using the GUI interface due to the register problem. I can´t configure the machine or go to Administration ->... because if machine it´s not licesed you can´t access further than "Register Device".
