  • 1.  Unable to log in to SPC or start Embedded Database

I'm hoping someone here can help me with this. We have a client where we are trying to install a new license but are unable to log in to the SPC to do so. I have already tried running through a repair install from add/remove programs and renaming the sem5.log file as suggested elsewhere on the forums but have had no luck. When I try to start the Embedded Database I get the message that it has started and then stopped. I get the following errors in the application log when trying to start the database service:

Does anybody have any advice on how we can proceed from here?

You might be having two different DB running on port 2638 , do a netstat and check if any one is listening on this port.

run DB validator which is found in tools folder and also

post the scm.log founder under logs folder

    Hello,

Are you talking about SPC or SEPM?

Symantec Protection Center (SPC) is a centralized security management console that allows organizations to identify emerging threats, prioritize tasks and accelerate time to protection based on relevant, actionable intelligence.

In case, you are not able to login to the SEPM via SPC, you may need to check the SEPM server itself.

In case you are talking about SEPM, please let us know the following:

    1) What version of SEPM 12.1 are you running?

    2) How much is the disk space available on the HDD?

    3) Could you please upload us the scm-server-0.log and catalina.out log from \program files\Symantec\symantec endpoint protection manager\tomcat\logs

    Hope that helps!!
