Hi

Recently i have just upgraded my sep clients from 11.06 to 12.1. After upgrading, i try open up my client, an error pop up saying Symantec Endpoint protection cannot be open because some of the services are stopped. Restart the Symantec services, and then open symantec Endpoint Protection.

I have tried restarting my sep client but it has been grey-out and i am unable to to restart my sep service.

Please advice.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for update.

Could you please let us know this problem is happening for all the operating systems i.e 32 bit & 64 bit ?

Or you are facing on single 2008 64 bit machine ?

Please check Symantec setting manager service is working or stuck on 64 bit machine.

Thanks and Regards,

You could also start SEP from

You could also start SEP from the start menu.

Look for the following services in Task Manager: smc.exe, SmcGui.exe, rtvscan.exe

I would also do an eicar test at this point.

SEP not starting could be caused by corrupted install package, you might be required to unistall and install from a new package.

Its happening on most of the

Its happening on most of the machines. They are all 64bit machines. I push down using SEPM.

Will the installation went wrong if we have harden the servers before hand?

Thanks

If these are Windows 7 or 2k8

If these are Windows 7 or 2k8 OS, then you may have to disable some user restrictions from the User Account Control before installation.

Take a look at this info

Hi,

Not sure if you are still having the same issues, but you may want to take a look at these areas of our support site.

Same problem in 32 Bit

Hi

We have the same problem on Windows XP 32 bit, SP3.

There are about 50 clients in our network. After upgrading to version 12, SEP service of almost all of them stoped. we changed the Firewall rule to allow all and the problem solved (I don't think this is the reason).
After 2-3 days, today we saw that 5 of our clients have the problem again and their services are stoped. they were working fine and are update.
If I restart the service, it will stop after 2-3 minutes.

Same issue here, I have a few

Same issue here, I have a few Windows 7 x32 systems that wont let the program run at all. Services are started but the icon never shows up in the tray and if you attempt to open the program it won't open. Went to try a repair and it doesnt even show in add/remove programs so im a bit stumped. Will keep trying.
