  • 1.  Unable to reboot server after scan starts

    Posted Sep 15, 2014 09:47 AM

We have a server with the Windows 2003 Small Business Server operating system. We run a weekly full scan starting 10:00 p.m. on Saturday which gets done about 4:00 a.m. Monday.

I needed to reboot the server in the middle of the scan on Sunday. SEP wouldn't let the server reboot. I finally took it down with the power button. How can I stop a scan that has started?

We have SEP Small Business Edition version 12.1.4013.4013.

    Thanks!

You need to allow the ability to do so.

In your AV policy, edit the Admin scheduled scan and go to the Advanced tab

Select "Allow the user to stop a scan"

Thanks for the quick reply. The policy had "Allow the user to pause or snooze a scan" checked. I also checked "Allow the user to stop a scan" and I changed the dropdown to "Show scan progress".

Will showing the scan progress slow the processing?

    Thanks!

Nope, won't slow the processing but it does give users the ability to cancel the scan if that's something you want :)

Have you checked stop the sep services ?

Try to stop SEP services (smc -stop).
