    Hello Team,

We are Unable to release genuine mails held as suspected virus in Symantec Brightmail Gateway.

As are many genuine mails being held as suspected virus.

    I already reffered KB :

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-gate.nsf/docid/2007196225732698

But all  the conditions mentioned in article do not match our scenario.

    Conditions
    • Scanner and Control Center are not installed on the same machine
    • Scanner is located in the DMZ (De-Militarized Zone), outside the firewall
    • Control Center is located in the production network, inside the firewall

Our control center and Scanner are in same machine.
    Port 25 is already open.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Regards,
    M.R

Wow, thats an old document for products that aren't even supported anymore, not sure how you found that one. Here is the document you need:

Title: 'Suspect Virus messages accumulate in the Suspect Virus quarantine and cannot be released'
    Document ID: 2008022809363654
    > Web URL: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-gate.nsf/docid/2008022809363654?Open&seg=ent

He could validate the ports are working using

    telnet localhost 41016
    telnet localhost 41017

I get a SMTP style banner

    sbg31> telnet localhost 41017
    Trying 127.0.0.1...
    Connected to localhost.
    Escape character is '^]'.
220 host.example.com ESMTP Symantec Brightmail Gateway
    quit

Also check out    telnet hostname port and got the same.

    Click Admin / Control Center

What's your setting for SMTP host to which the Control Center should send alert notifications and reports?

Is it set to Use existing non-local relay settings? or is it set to use some specific host/port?

This is the setting that also defines how messages are released from Spam or from Virus quarantines.
