  • 1.  unable to retrieve threatcon level

    Hi folks,

    If I am "Unable to retrieve Threatcon level" on the status page of my SBG what exactly does that mean? Is it a blocked port? What port does it use to connect to ThreatCon? Everything else seems to be working fine...

    I don't support the Brightmail product, but with SEP, this usually indicates that the machine can't connect to our website. Please make sure that the account that is used to run the page where you should see the site is able to access this website:

    http://securityresponse.symantec.com

    The account may be the system account as well. So I suggest making sure that this site can be passed through your firewall/proxy.

    Again I do not support this product, so I may be completely wrong with this suggestion. If this does not work I apologize for wasting your time.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    I followed the KB article...all I needed to do was restart the control center service and voila!

    Everything is now tickety-boo!

    You are welcome, Simon.

    I was wondering if you recently changed the DNS server settings in the Control Center that required you to restart the Control Center to take effect.  I would be curious to know what prompted you to restart the Control Center.

    But good to know that you already had all the required firewall ports open and the problem was resolved without making any other changes.
