Workflow Soluiton

I am unable to use a workflow to send email.  I have filled in the required fields as asked, but whenever it gets to sending the mail component it fails with the error below

"The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address."  is there any one else experiencing this problem at all?

the email address i am using is a test one.  Desmond.Sanders@smclab.local, i have also tried Desmond@smclab.com.  still no luck

Add a form builder (or a show data component) in between the form that contains the email address and the component that is sending email to make sure it exists in the proper form. Also make sure you've configured your SMTP server settings in the send email component.

I did some investigation around this.  I was running workflow and the IIS on Server 2k8 x64.  when I set up the exact same worflow on Server 2k3 x64 it worked.  I'm assuming it has to do with IIS on 2k8.
