unable to start search or archive explorer in outlook 2003
Updated: 22 Feb 2011 | 6 comments
Hello,
Hoping someone can help me on this one.
We have a problem on a workstation (windows xp) with outlook 2003 and the ev 9.0.1 dcom client.
When the user chooses to search or view the archive explorer by pressing the corresponding button on the ev toolbar then just a blank page is shown.
If on that workstation we copy and paste the url in a browser then the archive explorer, search is being shown.
We reïnstalled the ev outlook add-in, deleted temporary internet files and the temp directory.
Nothing seems to do the trick.
Anyone experienced this issue before?
I attached the client log, hopefully it helps.
Thanks for the help.
Best regards,
JB

The file EVAEViewRedirect.htm exists on the workstation.
When I emptied the temp folder, the file was recreated.
Also the user his outlook 2003 has sp3 installed on it.
Could it be a hotfix that we are missing?
Again. Thanks for the suggestions.

There was an issue some time ago relating to MSXML and the "Kill Bit" vulnerability
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924191
This had the side effect of causing the EVAEViewRedirect.htm to not work due to the way it would push users to a different page, this should be resolved in 2003 SP3
I will try the fix. Thanks
