This issue has been solved. See solution.

Recently downloaded a trial copy of BESR on my Windows XP Pro x64.
Used it a few times (Recovery Point Browser) and then neglected it for a while.

Just today, I get a bunch of installation events after starting up my computer and a window will popup stating that the process has failed.

Product: Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 -- Error 1706.No valid source could be found for product Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 2010. The Windows Installer cannot continue.

Kept getting this error message while trying to uninstall:

ERROR: failed to have success running InstallDriver function in MSIInstallDriver Function.

Thereafter the uninstall process rolls back.

I've tried to repair the installation and then do an uninstall but still doesn't work.

Hi enzo, What you can look at

Hi enzo,

What you can look at downloading and running is the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility  (download from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301)
Once done, install and run it, and select the entry for BESR 2010. Once done, delete all instances of it on your HDD.
The utility will automatically clean up the install files, and remove it from Add/Remove programs etc.
