  • 1.  Unable to uninstall Sep from windows 2012

    Posted Jun 10, 2013 03:10 AM

    Hi,

We are using 12.1.671.4971 SEP Product. It was found during installation that this version of sep is not compatible with win server 2012. The product got installed but is showing compatiblity issues. We are trying to uninstall this product but it is not getting uninstalled properly. We can still see the icon and the services are still running but all are greyed out. Please help...

    Regards,

    Anish

Run the Cleanwipe tool to remove it properly.

For latest cleanwipe you need to cantace Symantec Technical Team

"Thumbs Up" to the above post.  As an aside, the below article provides links to manual uninstall articles:

Plus, confirmation you want SEP12.1RU2 (12.1.2015.2015) or later for Windows 2012 support:

Run the cleanwipe tool and uninstall the symantec client.

First supported version for Server 2012 is SEP 12.1 RU2, you can choose even SEP 12.1 RU2 or SEP 12.1 RU3

If you want to go with SEP 12.1 RU2 then you can only upgrade the Client because SEP 12.1 RU3 will be available on file connect earlier.

    Hi,

I would suggest to go with Competitive uninstaller utility.

As of now it's not possible with the help of SEPM console.

You can do uninstall (old package) and reinstall (new pacakge) using competitive uninstaller. This tool is not supported by Symantec

It can be found on the DVD under \Tools\NoSupport\CompetitiveUninstall.

    Hello,

As everyone highlighted above, Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.671 does not support Windows 2012 and Windows 8.

However, Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.RU2 and above does support Windows 2012 and Windows 8.

About Windows 8 and Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1

In your case, you may like to Uninstall SEP 12.1.671, for which you can follow this Article::

    Hope that helps!!
