Unable use 'Delete' key when in Running Cached Exchange Mode

Hello
We have users running Outlook 2007 w/ EV9 client and running Outlook in cached mode. They're unable to hit 'delete' key to delete emails. I know the below article has been published...Does anyone know if there's a registry fix or workaround to allow the Delete key to work again

There is no other available workaround

is it really the same error?
is it really the same error? i.e that popup being shown when you're in a Disconnected state?

If it's not when you're in "disconnected" state, then is it when you're working offline? Are you using 9 base cilent, or a service pack / hotfix?
As part of a 9.0.1 Client Hotfix, the following was addressed :
When setting Outlook client to 'Work Offline', archived and non-archived email are unable to be deleted using keystrokes
