    PGP Newbie Here.

    Two questions:

    1) I inheitied some encypted data feeds that use PGP Command line and I want to be sure I understand the licensing requirements. When I enter pgp --version --verbose I get the below results:

    License information:
     State: Valid
     Evaluation: No
     Expiration: Never
     Name: Authorized User
     Email: None
     Organization: Authorized Company

Does Expiration: Never mean the current licenses will never expire while installed on this server?

    2) THe company has been purchasing Upgrade assurance for PGP command line for the last several years. What exactly does this provide. I am the registered contact and can login to the licensing console and download new versions.

Thanks for any help you can provide

    For Upgrade Assurance, please see

    http://www.symantec.com/en/uk/store/popup.jsp?popupid=essential_vs_basic&footer=n

The license not expiring means that your license does not ever expire, including any free upgrades that may be made available for you.  In addition to this applying to your current server, it should apply to a replacement server, at least as long as it has not reached End Of Life.

I think I am good for now.

Will be upgrading to new servers and moving these licenses in a few months. Any gotchas? I know I can download the latest version of PGP from the site under Upgrade Assurnance. I will be decommissioing the old servers once migration is complete.

Its a perpetual license, it does not expire.  What DOES expire is the support from Symantec, which is renewed on a 1/2/3 year basis.  If they're out of support and something goes wrong Symantec won't help.  They will lose no functionality from not having this, but they also will not be entitled to upgrades, as that comes with the maintenance/support from Symantec

    Hi rileyrd, jun82,

You would need to check the licensing details.
This indication "License Expiration: Never" simply means that according to the already posted documentation, the product will not stop working.
However, this doesn't imply the customer is compliant. It depends on what was signed during the purchase.
