Failure of  SEP 11 installation on my windows 2003 server has forced me to go back to SAV 10. I'd tried to unsintalled SEP11 with MSICUU then run cleanWipe_11.0.5002.333. When I applied the manual uninstallation procedure to exam the result I found that the folder "c:\program files\symantec\symantec endpoint protection mamanger" is not deletable. I could not even reset the "Readonly attribute" of the folder and its sub folders and files. Leaving the problem as is, I decide to go ahead with SAV10 installation. However autorun from installation CD gave me the error "network not detected" when I click on the server name. As work around I installed the SAV10 server locally (by running SAV\setup.exe). The SAV10 server was installed sucessfully but when I open the SSC, on the right paneI displayed a "Fail to install some add-ins" error and left panel doenot  show any server group. I pray for some help to get me out of this mess. Thanks in million.

Cleanwipe requires restart computer twice and Intallation of SSC for SAV10 requires another restart. I restarted the a few times just to make sure.

Seems like the sAV CD is corrupted, can you try downloading a fresh copy.
    https://fileconnect.symantec.com
download the latest SAV and run the install.

Do you have the same issues if you are logged in as the local Administrator?  Is DCOM set to Identify?

You need to remove SEPM and SEP first..
If you are not able to delete the files then
Try deleting them in safe mode or use Unlocker utility to unlock the folders then delete it.

I found the Unlocker and succesfully deleted the locked folders and files, thank to you all. I tried to reinstall SAV10.1.9 again, but when I select and add the computer name for installation the message popped up "network name not found", problem remained. Is this installation procedure applicable for windows server 2003 ? should I install SSC before SAV or after. I can force installation locally, but SSC won't find the server group, won't load add-ins. Itried with both version 10.1.8 and 10.1.9. both have the same result.

Thanks again. This really help me to narrow the problem to Retina require settings. It seems that Retina and Symantec could not work well with each other. Symantec Firewall cause all kind of problems for Retina. An Retina IA required settings has caused this kind of problem for SAV10 installation. I temporarily set AutoShareServer to 1 (Retina want it to be 0) server name can be added to the installation panel but as soon as installation started it popped up another "Unknown" error. I think I am going to gave up SAV10 for now. Thanks to everyone.
