I truely believe u all.But i asked by query after reading manuals and all posts and googling all around.
So what if a file is opened on unix m/c and at that time backup runs?
read what Marianne wrote above:
>>> Unix does not have any 'issues' with open files.
I have tried this myself in the past and wrote a C script to "open" a file and then ran NetBackup backup and it backed it up without an issue
The only 'issue' that UNIX (Solaris) has with open files is when a process places an exclusive lock on the file. Few processes place exclusive locks. The logadm process is one of them. The bpbkar process will block when it runs into an exclusive lock. The job will fail if the lock owner does not relinquish the lock before the inactivity timeout, but the bpbkar process will continue to exist in the process table.
